Hi all! Thank you so much for checking out my brand new blog. The idea has been years in development, and only recently took shape with the help of some clever classmates of mine in a class at Fordham University from where I recently graduated my MBA with a dual focus in Communications and Media Management/ Marketing.
The purpose of this blog is to assist newbies or disinterested parties in opening their eyes to the fun of watching major sports. Though I will ultimately extend multiple editions for all nationally televised sports (basketball, baseball, hockey, mma, etc), the main focus initially is going to be on MY favorite sport... FOOTBALL!
So lets break this down. Why in the world would I care about educating people on how to watch sports? Well, the answer is simple and lies in the title of the blog. It's called "The Girlfriend's Guide" because of all you disgruntled girlfriends out there who require other girlfriends (like me) to forgo watching the game with the guys because you would rather chat about the latest gossip in the kitchen. Enough!
I get it... You didn't play the sport when you were younger. Your dad and brother were into it, but you and your mom always just took that as your opportunity to sneak out and shop. You totally dig the pink jersey but have no clue nor care to know who's number is on the back or what team they play for. You like the idea of a party to watch the game, but you feel that your contribution is better suited to making strategically iced cookies in the shape of the ball.
And the worst... You've asked your boyfriend to explain what's going on, and he either blows you off or starts rattling things off so fast that your head is spinning.
Well I am here to help! Stay tuned because this blog will break it down so that you will impress even the most avid fan! The best part? You'll FINALLY be able to enjoy it too!
